Welcome to British Book Rescue
We are a social enterprise. A small team of book lovers!
Our mission is simple: To save books!
We share all of our activities and news on Instagram and Facebook. Please click on the icons find out more:
Every year millions of books are thrown away and lost to the world.
Help us rescue them and find new homes where they will be read and loved.
We collect book donations from individuals and organisations all over the South West who no longer have room for them, bringing them to our rescue centres to be sorted.
We spend lots of time and effort sorting every book by hand in order to find the best home for each and every one.

Some are sold to help us pay for what we do.

Some are given to local charities to fund raise for their important, impactful work.

Some are given to schools to encourage a love of reading.

Some are given to prisons to aid education and build access to a diverse library.

Some are sent abroad where new books are just too expensive to share learning, ideas, and the exciting new worlds captured within stories.

Some have been read, re-read and loved so much that they cannot go on and are recycled into something new.
Three ways you can help be part of the British Book Rescue project:
1) Send us your unwanted books by post to British Book Rescue, Unit 2, Poole Farm Barns, East Woodlands, Frome, BA11 5LU. Either put your books in a box and send them to us: it costs less than £5 to send us up to 10kg of books and less than £8 to send us up to 20kg of books. Use https://www.parcel2go.com/ to find the best price.
2) If you have a very large donation (500+ books) , please contact the British Book Rescue team on 07775 246730 or books@britishbookrescue.com, to arrange a drop off or collection.
3) Bring your books to one of our British Book Rescue Centres. Map and addresses below:
